Crypto Wallets Turn Into DeFi Hubs as Swaps and Yield Move In-App
Crypto wallets are no longer just key storage. MetaMask, Jupiter, and others are rapidly absorbing swaps, yield products, and card spending into their apps — turning wallets into full-stack DeFi hubs.
MetaMask’s Money Account
On June 30, MetaMask launched Money Account on Monad, offering supported stablecoin conversions into mUSD alongside trading and card payments. Deposits enter smart contract vaults managed by Veda and curated by Steakhouse Financial, with Morpho as the initial lending destination and Aave markets to follow.
MetaMask advertises up to 4% annual percentage yield, with the rate changing daily based on market conditions. The displayed return is calculated after product and network fees. For cardholders in eligible regions, Money Account balances can fund purchases directly — blending yield with spending.
Jupiter’s Auto-Earn
Jupiter Wallet takes a different approach with Auto-Earn: while the wallet is unlocked, the extension checks balances hourly and deposits the full balance of an enabled token into Jupiter Lend’s earning vaults once it passes a selected threshold. Supported assets include USDC, USDT, JupUSD, EURC, USDG, and USDS.
Disabling Auto-Earn stops new deposits, but funds already committed to lending stay there until withdrawn.
The Trend
The direction is unmistakable: the wallet is becoming the financial interface. Rather than sending funds to separate exchanges and protocols, users can now earn, swap, and spend from one app. The winners in this race will be the wallets that make DeFi yields feel as simple as a savings account.
