CoinShares Launches OnChain Strategies Business With Safe Labs and Railnet

CoinShares, the Nasdaq-listed digital asset manager, has launched the first commercial deployment of its OnChain Strategies business through a partnership with Safe Labs and Railnet — bringing professionally managed DeFi and tokenized real-world asset strategies directly onto blockchain infrastructure.

A Capital-Light Distribution Channel

Announced on October 14, the partnership enables Safe’s enterprise users — including organizations such as the Ethereum Foundation and Circle — to allocate stablecoins to strategies combining decentralized finance yields with returns from tokenized real-world assets, all while retaining full ownership and control of their assets.

The strategies sit on Railnet, the on-chain infrastructure layer developed by Kiln, which connects managed DeFi and tokenized asset investments inside the wallets institutional clients already use.

The arrangement creates a new distribution channel for CoinShares without requiring the company to hold customer assets or finance investments from its own balance sheet. The company can earn management fees while clients keep custody — a capital-light model that flips the traditional asset management playbook.

Testing Blockchain as a Distribution Rail

Beyond stablecoin yields, the experiment tests something bigger: whether blockchain infrastructure can distribute investment products more efficiently than the traditional network of brokers, exchanges, and intermediaries.

Historically, CoinShares has generated recurring revenue through listed investment products distributed across traditional financial rails. OnChain Strategies apply the same disciplined investment process and risk framework directly through blockchain infrastructure — a potential template for how institutional asset management evolves onchain.
